In 2006 he founded H20 Africa Foundation to raise awareness about safe water initiatives on the continent. The A-list actor and Gary White, an engineer from Kansas City came together to create Water.org in 2009. The Ian Somerhalder Foundation helps fund green energy development while raising awareness of climate change. In 2014, the Vampire Diaries star was named a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Environment Programme. Somerhalder and Paul Wesley’s bourbon brand, Brother’s Bond, was launched to “reverse climate change” by adding exclusively sustainable ingredients.
