At Green Schools Green Future, we believe in the power of positivity to help ourselves and the world we live in. If taught from a young age, making it a habit to practice positivity can benefit your life for the long haul.

In the current climate of our individual lives and the news around us, it is easy to feel like the future is dark and scary. However, you can train yourself to have a more positive and productive mindset. Here are some daily tips to practice positivity in your life to benefit yourself and the people around you:

1. Practice gratitude

As many studies show, being thankful for all the good things in your life is a great way to boost your mood. By writing down or saying five things you are grateful for out loud, you can start your day with a positive attitude. When things go wrong, you can remember the bigger picture and appreciate what you have in your life.

2. Meditation and mindfulness

Meditation is a practice that goes back thousands of years with religious origins. It has developed into a way of life for people to connect with their inner selves.

Similarly, mindfulness involves focusing on what you feel and sense in the moment. It is a way to relax the body and mind through conscious breathing and can help reduce stress. During a break at work or in between errands, try to practice meditation, even if only for a few minutes. Being aware of your surroundings and your own feelings, both positive and negative, helps you build a positive mindset.

3. Self-care

We often talk about self-care, but don’t always practice it. In our world, where we boast about our full schedules and run around all day trying to check off items on our to-do lists, we must remember to sometimes say “no.” Letting your body rest and recharge is crucial for your health. Here are some good self-care activities:

  • Take a hot bath
  • Do some yoga
  • Listen to music
  • Read a good book
  • Watch a movie or TV show
  • Have a dance party in your bedroom

By listening to your body, you’ll fill yourself with positive vibes and stay healthy both physically and mentally.

4. Healthy food is your friend

Eating healthy food is a part of cultivating good vibes. You can eat produce grown in your own garden to ensure freshness and good taste.

The food we put into our body helps to energize us throughout the day, so be thoughtful about how you fuel your body.

5. Positive relationships

There is a famous quote by motivational speaker Jim Rohn that goes: “We are the average of the five people we spend the most time with.” This means the thoughts, actions, and feelings of the people you are often around can reflect back to your psyche.

Ensure that the people you are around the most often lift you up and don’t let them drag you down. Knowing where to invest your time and energy is important when it comes to the important relationships in your life. When you receive time, energy, and support back from them, you know you are spending time with the right people.

Make friends with people you can share positivity and good vibes with, and who can share them back when you need a boost.

6. Be one with nature

Just as the people around us influence our mentality, the plants and animals around us do as well. By going out for a walk or sitting in the grass, you can reconnect with your inner self. The fresh air and vitamin D from the sun also bring benefits.

If you want to feel really connected to nature, take off your shoes and let your bare feet touch the ground beneath you. This act is known as ‘grounding’ and can really give you positive vibes.

Remember to leave your phone at home – you don’t need it when you’re enjoying nature!

7. Hit “pause” on your day

We can often get lost in the hustle and bustle of the day. It is easy for our lives to become a schedule, which can cause a lot of stress and negative emotions. Be mindful of these emotions and focus on overcoming them with positive thoughts and reflection. A simple “pause” from time to time throughout your day can give your body and mind the time it needs to reset and respond to adversity in a more positive and beneficial way.

Conclusion: A Better World With Positive Vibes

So there you have it – a list of simple changes you can make in your life today to practice positivity in your day-to-day routine. Positive vibes are all around us, but you must have the mindset to take advantage of them. With these habits, we can build a future around happy, compassionate, and kind people who share positivity with one another.

“Your mentality shapes your reality. When you stress out, things will stress out around you. Always control your thoughts and pacify any unnecessary stress. Control your vibrations and you are the master of your own harmony.” ― Suzy Kassem
