The Hemp Fibre Yoga Mat
Gyms have a variety of modern equipment and mats. Recently, my local gym changed their old mats for new clean ones. Still, I see people bringing their own yoga mats, which is the more colorful and perhaps more hygienic choice. Still, you can clean the gym-provided mats with sprays and wipes, so I asked a few people what made them choose to buy their own yoga mats.
Why Get Your Own Mat?
The most common reason was the greater comfort they found with their own mats versus the ones at the gym. They didn’t have to worry about sweat stains and they could use a mat in a colour that matched their personality.
I realized getting your own yoga mat would be helpful for days when I didn’t feel like going to the gym. I could simply do some yoga at home on a rainy day. On sunny days, I could do some yoga with friends at a nearby park.
My Journey to Find The Perfect Yoga Mat
After talking to others at the gym, I resolved to get my own yoga mat. I needed something durable, portable, and easy to clean.
In my search for the perfect mat, I came across one made of hemp fibre. It was also free of PVC, silicone, and phthalates. According to my research, this type of mat lasts longer than most other mats available in the market. It’s a firm mat, but with a soft cushioning layer underneath the fibres, it’s easy on your back. I usually use a double mat at the gym because a single one is too tough on my back. But once I tried this hemp fibre mat, I no longer had this issue.
The seven chakras on the mat get me into the mood to do some yoga. Also, the anti-slip feature makes it easy for you to do more complex yoga techniques without fear of falling.
This hemp fibre yoga mat is about 4mm thick and measures 72”x 24”, so it’s a good size for the average person. You can easily get rid of your sweat on the mat by putting it in the washing machine for a quick wash. Then, just hang to dry.
