Research shows organic food can promote mental growth in youth. Children aged 2-10 years need fibre to develop their cognitive abilities. Studies from Spain show children who consume more natural, organic food have better memory than others who eat fast food. Organic produce is grown naturally without chemicals or synthetics.

Organic food contains high amounts of fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins which all help with the mental development of kids. Studies show that children who consume fast food have lower academic scores than children who eat organic food. Memory and reasoning abilities in children are directly correlated with eating more green food. Symptoms of depression and anxiety are also linked to diets low in organic and natural food.

How To Eat Organic

Here is how to promote mental and cognitive development in children through organic diets:

  • Include organic dairy products, vegetables, and fruits in their meals and snacks for sufficient vitamins and minerals
  • Replace processed, high-calorie food (such as chocolate chip cookies) with natural, low-calorie options (such as oranges and apples) to live healthier

At Green Schools Green Future, we aim to help children lead healthy and sustainable lives. Our curriculum includes sustainable farming practices to promote organic, healthy eating.
