Air Pollution in Homes
Were you aware that the air inside your home may be 100 times more polluted than the air outside? It was reported by the American Lung Association that air toxicity is one of the number one causes of poor public health. Think about it, the airborne pollutants in your home circulate around like carbon dioxide in your lungs if you don’t breathe. This contaminated air impacts your entire body and as you breathe it, it releases toxins into every cell.
Why are these pollutants in our homes?
The pollutants existing in the air in your home can come from many sources. Some externally, such pollen and dust which make their way inside the home via windows, ventilation systems or even on clothes worn outside. Basements can also be contaminated with a radioactive gas known as radon. Moreover, the pesticides we spray in our gardens can also be brought into the house, creating additional pollution.
What are some of the pollutants in our home?
- Burnt food
- Carbon monoxide
- Emissions from heaters
- Vermin
- Bacteria
- Insect control products
- Synthetic fragrances in perfume and cologne
- Mold
- House paint
- Products with tobacco
Many people don’t realize that the problems they have with breathing, congestion, allergies, moodiness and sleeping problems may come from these airborne pollutants circulating in their homes. Luckily for us, there is a certain air purifier that is just the one for the job.
How to Purify your Air:
Now, I would be remiss if I didn’t say that many, if not most, air purifiers aren’t the most competent in protecting your lungs from airborne pollutants because of a number of reasons, these include:
- They are too small
- Remove a very small portion of the pollutants
- May not even be able to remove all of the particles
However, in Canada, where most of the population spends up to 6 months in the home a year during the winter seasons, many of my friends and family use the air purifier known as the AirDoctor Professional Air Purifier. It does wonders for the airborne toxins in the home, and as someone who suffers from nasal congestion during the winter months, trust me when I say that this air purifier is a life saver. It is a hundred times quieter than other purifiers I have tried and alerts me when it is time to change the filters. All in all, I say give air purifiers a try, you might be surprised with the difference in air quality it provides for your home.
