How to Support Small and Local Businesses
COVID-19 created a feeling of solidarity within uncertainty and showed us how the little things in life matter. Everyone had been affected in some way or the other and one of the worst-hit were small and local businesses. Even now, small businesses still face difficulties. Here are 4 tips on how we can support them:
1. Purchase a gift voucher
Help local spas, dine-in restaurants and speciality stores by purchasing a gift certificate and using it now or later. It also works well as a gift.
2. Choose options from small businesses when online shopping
Shopping for items from big brands online is certainly convenient and cheap mainly because of the deals and coupons they offer. But small businesses have high quality and unique products. When online shopping, you may find specific sections dedicated to products from small and local businesses. Choose their clothes, home decor, stationery, hardware and other items to support them. Some may have discounts and other deals. They might even offer customization.
3. Spread the word and leave a review
When we enjoy our experience at a place or store, we will want to leave a review. This is a good time to do it. Tag the local store on social media when you leave a review to encourage more people to visit them.
4. Tip extra
If you can afford to tip a business a few extra bucks, make sure to do it to show your appreciation for their offerings.
Support small and local businesses with these small yet impactful gestures. With business models changing and new trends emerging, small businesses are growing in number. At Green Schools Green Future, we believe in supporting them and their often sustainable practices.
