It operates about 700 scooters and plans to add 500 more next month. The company has closed a funding round last year, which will help with the expansions.<\/p><h2 data-start=\"896\" data-end=\"917\"><strong>Why did Scoot Networks Choose Barcelona?<\/strong><\/h2><p data-start=\"918\" data-end=\"1170\">Michael Keating, the CEO and founder of the scooter company, considers Barcelona as a perfect fit because of the city&#8217;s scooter-friendly environment. Barcelona has wide sidewalks which are suitable for e-bikes and has restricted Ubers and other ride-shares in the past.\u00a0<\/p><h2 data-start=\"1172\" data-end=\"1217\"><strong>Flexible Urban Transportation\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2><p data-start=\"1218\" data-end=\"1500\">Scoot Networks is part of a growing movement for urban vehicle-sharing networks. Whether it&#8217;s renting a bike or scooter, or sharing an Uber, city dwellers are increasingly choosing more flexible transportation options to get around.<\/p><h2 data-start=\"1750\" data-end=\"1784\"><strong>Scoot Networks&#8217; City-Approved Scooters Stand Out in the Market<\/strong><\/h2><p data-start=\"1785\" data-end=\"2108\">Scoot Networks has largely avoided San Francisco&#8217;s ongoing debate about dockless e-scooters because its scooters follow the city guidelines. While Bird, Lime, Spin, and other startups introduced scooters on sidewalks without prior approval or permits, Scoot&#8217;s scooters must remain on the streets.
