{"id":42180,"date":"2022-09-28T01:03:20","date_gmt":"2022-09-28T01:03:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greenschoolsgreenfuture.org\/?p=42180"},"modified":"2025-08-18T06:57:06","modified_gmt":"2025-08-18T06:57:06","slug":"fda-recalls-another-batch-of-hand-sanitizers-over-deadly-contamination","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greenschoolsgreenfuture.org\/fr\/fda-recalls-another-batch-of-hand-sanitizers-over-deadly-contamination\/","title":{"rendered":"FDA Recalls ANOTHER Batch of Hand Sanitizers Over Deadly Contamination"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"42180\" class=\"elementor elementor-42180\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1733d14a e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"1733d14a\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-79228a9d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"79228a9d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><em>*originally published on the Daily Mail UK*<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Written by Caitlin Tilley<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gels that&#8217;ve been on shelves since June 2020 found to contain toxin that can cause seizures or blindness<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Twenty batches have been recalled by Colorado-based Adam&#8217;s Polishes<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The FDA found undeclared methanol, a deadly form of alcohol, in the products<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Methanol can cause&nbsp;vomiting, anorexia, diarrhea and hallucinations if ingested<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul><div><b><br><\/b><\/div>\n<p><strong>A total of 20 batches of Adam&#8217;s Polishes hand sanitizer have been recalled by the company amid fears they could cause poisoning<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Another batch of hand sanitizers have been recalled after they were found to contain a poisonous substance which can cause blindness and seizures.<\/p>\n<p>The Food and Drug Administration (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/fda\/index.html\"><strong>FDA<\/strong><\/a>) found undeclared methanol \u2013 a toxic kind of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/alcohol\/index.html\"><strong>alcohol<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;which can kill if ingested \u2013 in Adam\u2019s Polishes hand gels.<\/p>\n<p>It comes after almost two dozen hand sanitizer brands were&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/health\/article-11365553\/Are-hand-sanitizers-cancer-risk.html\"><strong>recalled or banned<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;in the US after they were found to contain the cancer-causing chemical benzene.<\/p>\n<p> Methanol is a type of alcohol used to make plastics, paints, car parts and building materials.<\/p>\n<p>People who accidentally drink the Adam\u2019s Polishes hand sanitizers are at risk of a coma, seizures, permanent blindness, permanent damage to the central nervous system and death, the FDA said.<\/p>\n<p>So far, the company has not received any reports of illness, but the agency has previously noted blindness, hospitalizations and death after methanol-contaminated products were ingested.<\/p>\n<p>The Colorado-based company sold the hand sanitizers online to US customers between June 2020 and March this year.<\/p>\n<p>The recalled product comes in 4oz, 8oz, and 16oz spray bottles, and one gallon bottles.<\/p>\n<p>Adam\u2019s Polishes are voluntarily recalling batch 133475, plus a further 19 batches as a precautionary measure.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The FDA recalls more hand sanitizers due to a toxin that can cause blindness or seizures.
