It\u2019s finally Christmas season, everyone! It’s a time for cheer and the gifting of iPhones. With sales all around, many people decide to buy the newest iPhone. But what do you do with your older model if it’s still working? There are a couple of things you can do with your old phones, such as giving it away to someone else. Here’s how to prepare your iPhone for the exchange:<\/p>

Disable Find My iPhone<\/strong><\/h2>

First, you should disable the Find My iPhone feature for your old phone. If you don’t, the phone’s new owner won’t be able to activate it. Below are the steps to disable the feature:<\/p>

  1. Go to settings<\/li>
  2. Click Apple ID<\/li>
  3. Click \u201cFind My\u201d icon<\/li>
  4. In the next page, click “Find My iPhone” and toggle the slider to the ‘off’ setting<\/li><\/ol>

    Sign Out Of iCloud\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>

    Since your phone will be getting a new owner, you shouldn’t leave any of your files and data behind in the cloud. Here’s how to sign out:<\/p>

    1. Go to settings<\/li>
    2. Click Apple ID<\/li>
    3. Scroll down until you can see the sign out directive<\/li><\/ol>

      Reset Your Phone<\/strong><\/h2>

      To finish the hand-off, erase everything on your phone. Make sure you’re ready before doing this because you can’t reverse it. Once you’ve double checked you won’t lose anything by accident, follow these steps:<\/p>

      1. Go to settings<\/li>
      2. Click “General<\/li>
      3. Click “Transfer\/Reset iPhone”<\/li>
      4. Click “Erase Contacts and Settings”<\/li>
      5. If you get a warning, enter your PIN number<\/li>
      6. Click “Continue” and you\u2019re done!<\/li><\/ol>

        There you have it folks! You’ve kept another phone from ending up in a landfill. You’ve also given someone the opportunity to own a good iPhone without spending hundreds of dollars.
