Have you ever been inspired to do something good for the world? Have you witnessed the suffering of others and wished to help? You may be short on time or unsure about what to do to help. September 5th is International Day of Charity<\/a> and you can take advantage of it by engaging in the community. This post contains some ideas for anyone who wants to make a difference but isn’t sure where to begin.<\/p>

Around 9.2% of the world’s population (around 689 million people) live in poverty. Poverty is not only about a lack of money, but also about a poor quality of life, lack of education, and the inability to obtain medical treatment. Considering these dimensions, many people in our world are living in \u202fmultidimensional poverty. That means a person’s income may be over the poverty line, but they still may not have access to clean water or proper hygiene. Their children also may not be able to complete 6 years of schooling.<\/p>

The United Nations General Assembly established September 5th as the International Day of Charity in 2012. Mother Teresa, a well-known humanitarian, passed away on this day. She dedicated her life to helping others. On her death anniversary, we can remind ourselves how simple acts of kindness may mean the world to someone else.<\/p>

There are several ways for you to give back to your community and beyond. Your time, resources, and small efforts to help others are what the world needs to be a better place for everyone.<\/p>

Here are some ideas on how you may help others:<\/p>

1. Feed families<\/strong><\/h2>

You may help by making meals for those in need. Look for local food banks and inquire about volunteer opportunities. You may help out by preparing meals, packaging the food, donating non-perishable items, or contributing money.<\/p>

2. Clean the beach<\/strong><\/h2>

A wonderful way to give back to the world is by cleaning up the\u202fwaste that harms animals, plants, and ourselves. You should do this regularly, but on this day, put in some extra effort\u202f and clean up the trash you see at the beach.<\/p>

3. Grow plants<\/strong><\/h2>

We will always require nature for our survival, so ensure that you are a preserver rather than a butcher of nature. Plant some trees on September 5th and make it a tradition. When you link an act with a certain occasion, you will never forget to do it.<\/p>

Depending on where you live, you might have different options for planting trees in your community, so do your research so you can be directly involved in the process of planting. Make sure you take your kids with you.<\/p>

If you are unable to go and plant it yourself or if it is not possible in your community, you may plant a tree indirectly by donating to organizations. One Tree Planted<\/a>\u202fand Plant A Tree Project<\/a>\u00a0are two examples.<\/p>

You can also start a home garden. Growing your own food does good for your health and the health of your family. Learn more about how to do it here.<\/p>

4. Teach children about charity<\/strong><\/h2>

Our children are our future. We must educate them about health, sustainability, and doing the right thing. Involve your children in any charitable work you are doing. Tell them about the value of charity, donating their toys, holding the door for others, or simply being polite to everyone.<\/p>

5. Inform others<\/strong><\/h2>

If you are unable to contribute your time or money for any reason, you may just spread the word and inform people about the causes you wish to support. Write a blog article, share a social media message or photo, or inform your family or friends about organizations that are helping the community. Perhaps your words can inspire someone to donate to a worthy cause.<\/p>

Social media is the most effective method for spreading information and letting people know what causes you stand behind. Learn about our projects and the causes we advocate for on our social media<\/a>. Inform your network about the change you want to see in the world and how you plan to support it.<\/p>

6. Volunteer your time\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>

Give back to your community by volunteering. At GSGF, we\u00a0always welcome volunteers to us grow with us and we assist them in sharpening their skills in the area of their\u202finterest. Our volunteers like working here because they have the opportunity to participate openly in discussions, present their views, and make lifelong connections.<\/p>
